“The Big Wait” – Turning Waiting Time into Quality Time

During the project, The Big Wait in the summer semester of 2021, I collaborated with Sara Sieff on a small-scale architectural design. With Shelter 210, we introduced a literal 90° twist to the conventional bus stop. This subtle shift in perspective allowed us to reconsider many aspects of what a shelter can be—from how it is accessed to how it offers comfort while people wait. The design consists of five modular units that can be combined in numerous configurations, following a proportional grid. This system creates a shelter that seamlessly adapts to its location and users’ needs.
