Capturing a Common Essence Found in All Faces
Visages Vraies is an experimental font I created under Olocco Riccardo in the summer of 2021. Based on a modular geometric system, it evokes human faces and is best suited for headlines or special uses. Inspired by the uniqueness and imperfections of facial features, the design abstracts a universal essence of the face. The specimen explores themes of concealing identity and emotion, presenting both the development process and the font’s distinctive, highly graphical style.

Spreads
The color scheme is bold, limited to black, white, and red, with sharp letterforms complemented by black-and-white illustrations that sometimes integrate the letters themselves. Prioritizing artistic expression over typographic precision, this first experiment embraces radical, graphic storytelling. Future iterations could unify the visual style and relax modular rules to improve readability, but here the letters and illustrations serve as a highly expressive exploration of identity.
